    How to Spot a Legit Peptide Supplier: A 5-Point COA Checklist

    Save this: a polished vial proves nothing. The evidence must identify the molecule, trace the exact batch and separate chemical purity from microbiological quality.

    A professional website, a clean label and a high purity claim are not enough to establish what is inside a vial. The quickest way to screen a peptide supplier is to follow the documentation from the physical vial back to the exact analytical results for that batch.

    1. Get a batch-specific Certificate of Analysis

    Ask for a Certificate of Analysis (COA) tied to the exact lot number supplied. A generic report with no lot number, an edited screenshot, or the same COA reused across every order does not establish that your vial was tested.

    2. Check both purity and identity

    HPLC and mass spectrometry answer different questions. HPLC estimates the relative purity of the tested sample; mass spectrometry checks whether the measured molecular mass is consistent with the claimed molecule. A report showing 98%+ HPLC purity is useful only when identity has also been confirmed. A highly pure sample of the wrong compound is still the wrong compound.

    Read the methods and results rather than trusting a large headline percentage. The report should name the sample, state the lot, show the test date and identify the laboratory. Purity and identity testing do not, by themselves, prove dose accuracy, sterility, lawful supply or suitability for human use.

    3. Match the batch number

    The lot printed on the vial should match the lot on the COA and any associated invoice or batch record. If the identifiers differ, the analytical result is not traceable to that vial. A QR code is convenient, but the underlying report and matching lot number are what matter.

    4. Separate chemistry from microbiology

    For any product represented as sterile or parenteral, look for separate sterility and bacterial-endotoxin results for the same batch. HPLC and mass spectrometry cannot establish either. Sterility testing checks for viable microbial contamination; bacterial-endotoxin testing addresses pyrogens that can cause serious febrile reactions.

    • Identity: does the analytical profile match the claimed molecule?
    • Purity: what proportion of the detected material is the main compound?
    • Sterility: did the validated test detect viable contaminating organisms?
    • Endotoxins: is the measured bacterial-endotoxin level within the stated specification?

    5. Verify independently

    The strongest check is independent testing of an unopened sample from the same lot through a qualified laboratory. Record the lot number, keep the sample sealed until dispatch and retain the original laboratory report. Independent testing can verify the submitted sample; it still does not automatically validate every vial, the storage history or the supplier's regulatory claims.

    2. Confirm HPLC purity and mass-spectrometry identity.
    3. Match the vial, COA and transaction records by batch.
    4. Require separate sterility and endotoxin evidence for products represented as sterile or parenteral.
    5. Use an independent laboratory when certainty matters.
